Baby carriers
With Jack we had this rather unwielding thing which looked a bit like an instrument of torture.
This time, I’ve decided I want a wrap so I can keep Bean close to me when he’s small. I relayed this to my mother who found it hilarious.
Apparently her own mother (my Colombian grandmother obvs) used to carry her kids around in a piece of material wrapped round her while she grafted....

Goodness, well I for one am surprised I’ve made it this far without tearing my hair out! Did I mention that Jim said there was no way we were having any more kids- partly because he couldn’t endure me whinging my way through another pregnancy? Surely I’ve not been that bad… have I?

(Jack brings over the guitar. I check guitar. I also google Phillips head screwdrivers. Turns out he is correct).

I went to the beautician yesterday for an eyebrow, full leg and bikini wax yesterday and MY GOD what a world of pain I was in. In fact I was in so much agony that we never even got to the bikini properly, much to my dismay.
The beautician said that the pregnancy hormones make your skin more sensitive. I guess it didn’t help that I’ve been even more lazy than usual in the depilating...

… Obviously it’s difficult to compare the different stages of pregnancy like for like (not in the least because I was unaware of my first pregnancy for nearly five months). But there are little differences I’ve noticed already. Like for example Bean (or Josh as we’ve taken to calling him) seems less greedy than his older sibling. How can I tell?

When I finished at the hospital at 1pm today, I was so ravenous I considered chewing my own arm off. Tempted as I was by McDonalds and this Japanese bento place, I managed to contain those evil hunger pangs sufficiently to get on a bus to Camden where I thought there might be more selection.
Turns out, I was wrong. I got off the bus and walked past a dirty kebab shop. I peered in as I walked...

…Diabetes clinic always makes me chuckle because it’s got a more er… rotund type of patient than the other clinics (myself included, of course). Very few of your toned yummy mummies here.

… Anyway, ants still not gone (don’t get me started) and Jack has found a new instrument of torture… My tweezers!
He’s told me they’re really good for killing ants as you can just squash them. Obviously I took them off him but couldn’t help but admire his resourcefulness.
Rich tea biscuits are apparently low GI...
…So I just did an ultra scientific test to see their effect on my sugars. This consisted of eating practically an entire pack and then checking my glucose an hour later. It was fine, whoop whoop!
And thus miniscule amount of porridge (supposedly also low GI) bad, entire pack of rich tea biscuits good. Who knew?

This evening Jack discovered that I’d freecycled his toy shopping trolley complete with toy food. We’d agreed this a long time ago but he’d got so used to it sitting in our corridor, he must have forgotten.

Scan went well today...
… and I found out that Bean weighs a healthy 2 pounds, 9 ounces. This is considered a ‘normal’ weight at this stage - and not that of a sugar-pumped beefcake, yay! So the diet seems to be working! (Has given me renewed envigoration in applying it after yesterday’s lapse). I’ll have another scan in four weeks to see how it’s going. From today’s scan,...
